With her lovely face, exceptionally toned, shapely and voluptuous 39D-23-37 figure, hypnotically sensual presence, and large natural breasts, Diane was a popular pin-up girl of the 50s and 60s who did pictorials for and/or graced the covers of such men's magazines as "Frolic," "Escapade," "Adam," "Beau," "Jem," "Tiger," "Modern Sunbathing," "Mermaid," "Monsieur," "Fling," "American Nudist," "Rogue," "Nugget," and "Esquire." Among the noted glamor photographers she posed for are Bunny Yeager, Russ Meyer, and Peter Gowland. Webber was the Playmate of the Month in the May, 1955 and February, 1956 issues of "Playboy" magazine. She married Joe Webber in 1955 and was discovered by the same man who discovered the young Marilyn Monroe. Diane worked as a chorus girl and took formal ballet training. She was the daughter of writer/producer Arthur Guy Empey and his wife Marguerite Andrus. The photo up for auction was shot in the 1950's by professional photographer Eric Herman of California, and is from Mr. So dedicated was she to the nudist lifestlye that she wrote a book about nudism and her family called "Those Wonderful Webbers". She appeared in the 1974 movie "The Trial of Billy Jack", as a belly-dance instructor and she played the mermaid queen in the 1962 release of The "Mermaids of Tiburon." She is talked about in the famous Gay Talese book "Thy Neighbor's Wife" and she was an openly devoted nudist who publicly defended the lifestyle on a number of oc casions. She was discovered by the man who discovered Marilyn Monroe and went on to be photographed by many of the great photographers of the day.
